FLY & DRIVE: Piedmont from Milan

Arrival at Milan Airport. Drive in your own car to Casale Monferrato, the capital of Monferrato. Stroll through the historic center of this baroque city. Visit the Cathedral and the Jewish Synagogue, considered one of the most beautiful synagogues in Europe. Late afternoon check-in at a hotel in the Turin area. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to the renowned Langhe Roero region. Head to the famous Barolo and explore the unconventional WiMu Wine Museum, located in the Castle of the Marquis Falletti. Visit a winery and enjoy a tasting of local wines and products. Continue on to Grinzane Cavour and visit the beautifully preserved medieval castle. An annual international auction of the white truffle takes place in one of the castle’s rooms. Later, visit the picturesque medieval village of La Morra, enjoy a light lunch at a local winery with a wine tasting, including the legendary Barolo red wine. Drive to Bra, the capital of Roero. Walk through the beautiful village and sample Piedmontese cheeses and traditional sausages, especially the Bra sausage. Evening return to your hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.

Drive to Asti, a charming town rich in monuments from various periods, from antiquity to the baroque, and famous for its culinary treasures: cheese, the sweet nougat Torrone, and sparkling Asti wine. Stroll through the town. Continue on to Neive, a charming medieval village listed among "The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy." Head next to Alba, the capital of the Langhe region, a city associated with truffles, chocolate, cheese, and wine. Walk through the picturesque town, which has preserved its medieval architecture to this day, and visit the historic center and the Church of Santa Lorenza. Drive to beautiful Serralunga d’Alba and visit the Fontanafredda winery, one of the largest and most famous wineries in the region. Evening return to your hotel. Overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Venaria Reale. Visit the Reggia di Venaria Reale, the former summer residence of the House of Savoy, known for hunting and its vibrant court life. Today it is a grand complex featuring a restored palace and beautifully manicured French-style baroque gardens. Walk through the royal apartments and the gardens. Continue to Superga, Turin’s highest peak, to visit the baroque Basilica of Superga, one of the symbols of the Piedmontese capital. Then, drive to the center of Turin, the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Walk through its main attractions: Piazza San Carlo, considered the most beautiful square in the country, Palazzo Carignano and Palazzo Madama with its beautiful gardens, and the Renaissance Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, home to the Chapel of the Holy Shroud. Next, walk through the majestic Piazza Vittorio and visit the church of Gran Madre di Dio, where, according to legend, the famous Holy Grail is hidden. Evening return to your hotel.
